McCracken County earns regular season sweep over the Lady Marshals

McCracken County earned their eighth straight win over Marshall County on Friday at Strawberry Hills Arena by a final score of 65-34. The Lady Marshals last win over the Lady Mustangs came in the First Region tournament championship game on March 27, 2021 but they lead the all-time series 16-11 dating back to 2013.

McCracken County took advantage of six early turnovers by the Lady Marshals to lead 10-0. A basket by Chevelle Henson put the Lady Marshals on the board but it was followed by a 9-0 run by McCracken County prompting Head Coach Aaron Beth to take his third time out of the quarter trailing 19-2.

Jessica Reed (31) provided a spark for the Lady Marshals off the bench with eight points against McCracken County.

The Lady Mustangs took a 32-8 lead into the second quarter and pushed their big lead to 51-18 at halftime behind a 25-point half from Claire Johnson. Henson, Laken Schroader, Rylan Darnall, Addi Wall and Jessica Reed each had a field goal to contribute to the Lady Marshals 10 points.

McCracken County went on to outscore the Lady Marshals 24-16 in the second half in their 65-34 win, led by Johnson with 29 points.

Henson led the Lady Marshals scoring with nine points followed by eight from Reed.

Tuesday at home against Hickman County (9-14) will be their final game of the regular season. They will play Murray on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:00 in the 4th District Tournament at Murray High.
