Robert Blades, 76, of Paducah, KY passed away at 12:58 pm on January 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and complications thereafter.

Robert was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 15, 1947, to the late Carl Vernard Blades and Nell Louise Smith.  He grew up in Evansville, IN and Henderson, KY.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Management from Murray State University.  He worked for the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, from which he retired.

He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, of which he was rewarded for bravery and heroic service when he served in the United States Armed Forces in the Vietnam War.  Robert also served in the active United States Army and active reserves for over 30 years.  He retired with the title and rank of Officer and Major.

Robert Blades was a member of the VFW, DAV, VVA, and American Legion.  He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Robert was married to Maricel for 37 years.  He is survived by his wife, his only child Vanessa, and his sisters, Rita and LaDonna and their families.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Carl “CJ” Blades.

A Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Clark officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:30 until the service time of 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Paducah.
