
Owner of Scarbrough Masonry, James was a master craftsman brick mason and worked with various construction companies in the area. An avid horseman, member of Mayfield Field Trial Association, Woodmen of the World, Jaycees, and a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ, James loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was also an avid fan of Mayfield Cardinal football, Kentucky basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Mr. Scarbrough is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine Smith Scarbrough; two sons, Jeff (Beth) Scarbrough of Mayfield and Scott (Chasity) Scarbrough of Columbus, Ohio; two granddaughters, Megan (Norland) Blount of Mayfield and Katie Beth Scarbrough and fiancé, Colton Moon of Bruceton, TN; two grandsons, Charlie Brooks Scarbrough and James David Scarbrough of Columbus, OH; four great grandchildren, Case Blount and Billie Ann Blount of Mayfield, Schuyler Moon and Hayes Moon of Bruceton, TN; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Opal Vincent Scarbrough; four brothers, Charles Scarbrough, Bobby Scarbrough, Bill Scarbrough, and Howard Scarbrough; four sisters, Jean Henderson, Hilda Lovett, Linda Day, and Betty Necaise; and one infant daughter, Jennifer Lynn Scarbrough.
A memorial visitation for Mr. James Doyle Scarbrough will be held at Northside Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
