George “Earl” Kortz, 79, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, after saying morning prayers with his baby girl at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health.

Earl retired from Seay Oil Company. He worked for Duke and Long and E. M. Bailey Distributing in the gasoline business. He was also a Member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a die-hard Kentucky Wildcat Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

Earl is survived by three sons, Mark Kortz of Missouri, Chris (Kim Champion) Kortz of Symsonia, Jamie Kortz of Kentucky; two daughters, Amanda Kortz of Paducah, Michele Livesay (Bryan McNeill) of Paducah; his sister, Ethel (Walter) O’Neill of Carlisle; two brothers, Richard (Florence) Kortz of Owensboro, Charles Kortz of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Kortz, Paige (Cody) Bell, Carsyn Kortz, Aaron, Ryan, Logan (Hannah), and Kelsie Livesay; and nine great grandchildren; Kaden, Kegan, Kylee, and Sophia Kortz, Serena and Emery Bell, Delilah and Khloe Livesay; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Brenda Kortz; his parents Frank and Mary Luvada Kortz; one brother, James Kortz; three sisters, Mildred Kortz, Mary Katherine Wurth and Doris Scheer.

Funeral Mass for George “Earl” Kortz will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Father Gary Clark and Deacon Scott Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Prayers will be held at 7:00 pm.

Visitation will also be held at 10:00 am until the service hour of 11:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
