Update—Suspect Sought After Shooting— Neihoff is in custody

UPDATE-

Since this incident, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has been actively searching for William Philip Neihoff.  At approximately 1:17 PM on January 18, 2024, McCracken County Sheriff’s detectives observed Neihoff in a vehicle in the Kevil area of Ballard County.  McCracken and Ballard County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped the vehicle and Neihoff was taken into custody without further incident.  Neihoff was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail on the outstanding arrest warrant obtained in this investigation.  Neihoff was charged with Assault in the First Degree, and being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a firearm.

1/16/2024

On January 13, 2024 at approximately 2:49 PM, McCracken County
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Beyer Lane to the complaint of a
shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies located a 25-year-old male with a
gunshot wound to the left leg. Deputies immediately began to perform
medical care on the male to stop the bleeding until an ambulance
arrived.

Through investigation, Deputies learned that the victim had been in
an altercation with 50-year-old William Philip Neihoff of Beyer Lane.
Deputies believe that during the altercation, Neihoff fired a 12-gauge
shotgun at the victim, striking him in the leg.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence on Beyer. Based
upon the investigation, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for
William Philip Neihoff for Assault 1st Degree and Convicted Felon in
Possession of a Firearm. Neihoff should be considered Armed and
Dangerous. A photograph of Neihoff is attached to this press release.
