Cayson Conner, former member of the Lady Marshals, is in her junior season with the Murray State University women’s basketball team. The 12-2 Racers are currently enjoying an 11-game win streak and if they can beat Friday’s Missouri Vallery Conference (MVC) opponent Northern Iowa, they will set a program record of 12 straight wins.

Midway through the season, Conner has scored 48 points for the Racers with her highest point total coming against UT Martin when she scored 11. The Racers broke into the Top 25 at 23rd in this week’s College Insider Mid-Major poll and are currently the highest scoring offense in the nation with an average of 92.3 points per game under seventh year head coach Rechelle Turner.

The Racers are 5-0 in MVC games and their only two losses this season have come from Arkansas 82-79 and Indiana 112-79.

As a freshman at MSU, Conner played in all 32 games and in her sophomore season, played in 31 games with six starts each of those years. Conner has started in all 14 games this season for the Racers and has recorded a team-leading 24 steals.

While a member of the Lady Marshals, Conner became a member of the 1,000-point club, finishing her high school career with 1,482 points which ranks her eighth all-time. She helped lead the Lady Marshals to back-to-back Region 1 titles and a runner-up finish in the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament.

Conner was a two-time All-Purchase Team member and Region 1 Tournament MVP. She was named KABC Region 1 Player of the Year, Kentucky Miss Basketball finalist and named to the 2021 KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 All-Tournament Team.
