Margie Mott, age 72, of Bardwell, Kentucky passed away on January 11, 2024, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Margie was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on February 21, 1951, to the late John and Earline Flournoy Courtney Pitts. Margie owned and operated Mott’s Station in Bardwell for over 30 years. She was a devoted member of Mississippi Baptist Church. Margie enjoyed arts and crafts and recently made quilts and pillows for all of her grandchildren. Margie loved to spend time in her garden and decorate the house during holiday seasons. Margie was a true sports enthusiast and she kept the score book for Carlisle County Middle School and Carlisle County High School for numerous years. One thing about Margie is you always knew where you stood with her and she was always generous to a fault. Margie was a fighter and was as tough as nails, having beat breast cancer once and lung cancer twice. Most importantly, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James “Jimmy” Edward Mott, Jr.; her daughter, Aleeca Burton (T.J.) of Brooksville, Kentucky; her son, John Mott (Angela) of Arlington; her sister, Wanda Miller of Bardwell, five grandchildren, Jaden Mott, Eva Mott, Ella Burton, Taylor Burton, and Ava Burton; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her very much.

Margie was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Courtney; her grandfather Gordon Flournoy; and her parents.
