Lady Marshals fall at the Eagles Nest 48-39

Skylar Waller, guarded by Graves County’s Ginger Martin in their December 8 game, led the Lady Marshals with 17 points on Friday at the Eagles Nest.

In their first meeting of the year on December 8 at Reed Conder Gymnasium, the Lady Marshals beat the Graves County Lady Eagles 60-54 in an exciting triple overtime game. Friday at the Eagles Nest, the Lady Eagles evened the series with a 48-39 win over the Lady Marshals.

The Lady Marshals led by four points at 10-6 at the end of the first quarter. Tied for the third time in the second quarter at 15-15, Kenzlee Terry scored followed by two straight baskets by Skylar Waller including one at the buzzer that gave them a 21-15 lead at halftime.

Waller’s nine points and Terry with eight, led the Lady Marshals first half scoring.

A cold start to the second half for the Lady Marshals led to an 8-0 run for the Lady Eagles. Graves County outscored the Lady Marshals 13-6 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead at 28-27 into the fourth quarter.

Hannah Glisson and Morgan Alexander put the first four points of the fourth quarter on the board for Graves County and their lead was five points. Four points from Laken Schroader on a field goal and a couple of free throws cut the Lady Eagles lead down to one at 32-31.

A three pointer by Glisson followed and was the start of a 16-8 finish over the Lady Marshals to pull out their nine-point win.

Glisson led all scorers with 17 points and was a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line. Free throws were a big factor in the second half and for the game, the Lady Marshals were 6-of-12 while the Lady Eagles hit 17 of 20 attempts.

The Lady Marshals will be back in action at home on Saturday at 2:00 against Christian Fellowship (8-4).
