Don Burton, age 85, of Wickliffe, formerly of Lone Oak, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his home after a long battle with ALS.
Don was born in Murray, Kentucky on September 4, 1938 to the late Walton Simmons Burton and Thelma Burton Pace. He was a member of Bardwell Church of Christ. Don loved to read the Bible every chance he could and taught the youth Sunday School group for several years. He served his country with the United States Army Reserves. Don worked for over 18 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority before owning and operating his own business, Art Craft Sign Company. He also spent time as a Bailiff and Security for the Ballard County Courthouse after moving to the Wickliffe area. Don was a true lover of sports. He spent much of his time playing golf all around the Western Kentucky area, but his greatest passion was helping coach his daughters in softball and basketball. Don was also very active in the Lone Oak Booster Club. When he wasn’t on the golf course or coaching, Don enjoyed raising and showing Quarter Horses competitively. His family will remember Don as being the proud and loving father to his daughters and “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
