
Christian Fellowship’s Eagles opened play in the First Region All “A” Classic on Saturday, January 6 with a 73-67 win over Community Christian Academy. Advancing to play Murray on Monday, the Eagles lost 89-47.
Sophomore Elijah Grigg scored 35 points in the Eagles win over CCA and in the two games, combined for 57 points. Against CCA, Grigg went 14-of-18 at the free throw line and led in rebounding with 17. He led the Eagles with 22 against Murray, hit four threes and was 4-of-4 at the line.
Grigg currently ranks third in the state among leading scorers with an average of 29.5 points per game.
Sophomore Daxton Kite was the second leading scorer for CFS in the tournament with a combined 29 points. Kite had 19 against Murray and 10 in their game against CCA.
The Eagles falls to 6-7 and will meet Community Christian (3-10) for the fourth time this season at home on Friday. After dropping their first game of the season to the Warriors, the Eagles have won the last two.
