Mr. Rodger Lee Rothert, 84, of Camden TN, passed away on Monday December 11, 2023 in Murray, KY.
Mr. Rothert was born on October 21, 1939 in Carthage, IL to the late Herman and Vera Grumke Rothert. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1957. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1962 with a degree in mechanical engineering, he returned to a family farm near Warsaw, Illinois where he remained for the next twenty years. He spent the remainder of his working life as a truck driver throughout the US and Canada, eventually settling in Camden, TN where he resided for the final years of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Audrey Fecht; a sister-in-law Sue Rothert; and two sons-in-law Michael Kraus and Travis Weigand.
Those left to cherish many wonderful memories include daughters, Diana Norris (James) of Bastrop, TX; Laura Weigand of Warsaw, IL; Jessica Rothert of Peoria, IL; a son, Steve Rothert (Lorri) of Jackson, MO; and their mother Dorothy Rothert. Surviving siblings include two brothers, Herman Rothert (Lorna) of Basco, IL, Rodney Rothert (Charlene) of Chandler, AZ; and sisters, Shirley Huls (Don) of Valparaiso, IN; and Pam Wingstrom (Greg) of Wolcottville, IN. In addition, he leaves behind ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Among the very many friends who mourn his passing, the family wishes to acknowledge a special debt of gratitude and affection to the companion of his waning years, Sharon Hogue of Murray, KY.
A memorial service will be held in Camden, TN at Shiloh Methodist Church on December 28 at 4 pm. A memorial service will also be held in Warsaw, IL on January 13 (time and place TBD).
