Hubert Doom age 91, of Paducah passed away at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Providence Pointe Healthcare.
Hubert was of the Baptist faith and a retiree of the Crounse Corporation where he spent twenty years working on the river as a Chief Engineer. He loved to talk about his experiences on the river. After retiring Hubert spent several years working at Bumpus Variety with his dear friends and his loving wife until her passing. Hubert enjoyed working on refrigerators and antique clocks. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Hubert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He cherished his family and especially his two grandsons and their families. Hubert did not have much education, but there were very few things he could not take apart and put back together. He loved using his hands. Hubert was a man of God. He will be forever missed by his family and all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Doom Howard (Kevin) of Paducah; two grandsons, Derick Carter (Sabrina) of Clarksville, TN and Justin Carter (Qilli) of Newcastle, WA; four great grandchildren, Tanner Carter, Kaitlyn Carter, Ella Carter and Ethan Carter; three brothers, Preston Doom, Lannie Doom and Allen Doom; two sisters, Deana Smith and Dorothy Elbert; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, of 30 years, Helen Jean Dixon Doom, 2nd wife, Ina Gregory Doom and 3rd wife, Wanda Jones Doom; parents, Fird Doom and Vera Evans Doom; three sisters. Ruth Massey, Glenna Joiner and Helen Pendergast; two brothers, Thomas “Buster” Doom and Ivan Doom.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Tilford officiating. Burial will follow at Scotts Chapel Cemetery in Livingston County.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time of noon at the funeral home.
