Charles “Charlie” Raymond Smith, age 75, of Boaz, Kentucky, passed away at 2:27 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his home.
Charlie was born in Harvey, Illinois on Sunday, December 14, 1947 to Raymond and Mary Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was employed as an electrician at Illinois Central / VMV Railroad. He was a skilled handyman, raised cattle as a farmer, and enjoyed both bowling and fishing. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Lee Witt Smith; his daughter, Christine Rowe (Wayne) of Fancy Farm, Kentucky; his son, Mark Smith of Hardmoney, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Cheyenne Smith and Robbie Wray; his great grandchildren, Colton Wray and Claire Smith.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Arlee Smith and Mary Benita Schmitt Smith; his daughter, Margie Smith; his sisters, Angela Verbaere and Mary Margaret Smith; his brother, Robert Arlee Smith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Homes with Pastor John Hagan officiating. Burial with military funeral honors will follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Lone Oak Chapel.
