As the 2023 interim ends, and the echoes of committee meetings gradually fade, we find ourselves with the holiday season upon us. With the election season now behind us, there’s a sigh of relief—a moment to welcome the joy and festivity this season brings.
Thanksgiving is especially meaningful as I’m home in our district, surrounded by family and loved ones, reconnecting with neighbors and constituents. It’s a time when the genuine spirit of community comes alive, and I’m grateful to share these moments with those who make our district feel like home.
Thanksgiving, originating from the gathering of Pilgrims and Native Americans, remains a timeless reminder of gratitude, unity, and sharing. Let’s not forget those in need in the spirit of Thanksgiving, especially as winter approaches. Consider extending support to local food banks or organizations dedicated to alleviating hunger. In our abundance of blessings, there’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our brothers and sisters facing hardship.
During our celebrations, remember those in the military, courageously serving our country. Many of them will spend the holidays away from their loved ones, and their sacrifices are a testament to our values. As we gather for Thanksgiving, let’s also express gratitude to the selfless law enforcement and first responders who work tirelessly, ensuring our safety even on this holiday. Their dedication lets us enjoy our dinners with peace of mind, knowing they stand ready to protect our communities. Their sacrifices embody the true spirit of service, and we thank them for their unwavering commitment.
As we gather for Thanksgiving meals, football cheers, or simple moments together, let’s—at least briefly—set aside political differences. Reflect on the faith that sustains us this Thanksgiving, recognizing strength is rooted in humility. Regardless of political affiliation, we’re all connected in our shared pursuit of a better future for our commonwealth.
I’ll challenge you to choose local charm as you begin your Christmas shopping efforts—it’s a meaningful investment in our communities. Local businesses are the backbone of our neighborhoods, embodying each community’s unique identity. Support friends, family, and local economies by shopping locally. This small action carries a significant impact, fostering economic resilience and nurturing our city’s and town’s distinctive character. Explore local gems for joyful holiday shopping and place “Kentucky Proud” products underneath your Christmas tree this year.
Representing you in Frankfort is an honor that doesn’t take a holiday break. Despite the festive season, the 2024 Regular Session is quickly approaching, and your thoughts, questions, and concerns remain invaluable. Don’t hesitate to reach out to my office at Danny.Carroll@lrc.ky.gov.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed, happy, and safe Thanksgiving.
