
David Lemmons,72, of Benton, KY passed away comfortably in his sleep on Sunday morning, November 12, 2023. David was a beloved husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was serving as minister of the Maple Hill Church of Christ in Benton, KY, and could be heard on the Walking in Truth radio program on 99.1 FM and seen often on the A Bible Answer program on WQWQ. His LemmonsAid website reached thousands of souls around the world and was responsible for bringing many brothers and sisters closer to Christ. His favorite things to do in life were to spend time surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, and cheer on the Arkansas Razorbacks—Woo Pig Sooie!
David dedicated his life to service of the Lord and His work. He graduated from both the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas and the Memphis School of Preaching in Memphis, Tennessee. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. He served as the minister for several churches of Christ, including Rehobeth Church of Christ in Dyersburg, TN, the Bernie Church of Christ in Bernie, MO, Rolling Fork Church of Christ in Rolling Fork, MS, Mount Zion Church of Christ in Savannah, TN, Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann, AR, North Marshall Church of Christ in Calvert City, KY, Bellevue Road Church of Christ in Dublin, GA, and Maple Hill Church of Christ in Benton, KY. David was also inspired by “The Great Commission” in Matthew 28 to make double-digit mission trips to Indonesia, India, Ukraine, and Tasmania.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Diane, their three children (Heather Simmons, Aaron Lemmons, and Rachel Wallace), two sons-in-law (Kris Simmons and Anthony Wallace), and three grandchildren (Maverick Simmons, Serenity Simmons, and Cannon Wallace). He is also survived by three sisters (Sue Barnes, Pat Arnold, and Karen Weems) and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents (Quentin and Margaret Lemmons) and six siblings (Peggie Lemmons, Bill Lemmons, Bob Lemmons, Shirley Wiles, Dick Lemmons, and Karol Lemmons).
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025. A funeral will be held for family and friends at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in David’s name to the Memphis School of Preaching in Memphis, TN or the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Nashville, TN.
