
Amos Ray Davis, 84, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. Ray was born on July 9th, 1939 to the late Elmer and Flora Culp Davis of Benton, Kentucky.
Ray grew up in a farming family in the community of Scale. He graduated from North Marshall High School where he met Glenda, who he was married to just shy of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Ray was a licensed Journeyman and Master Plumber in the State of Kentucky. In 1964, he started Davis Plumbing, which he operated for over twenty years. He later retired from the Department of Housing and Building’s Division of Plumbing as a Plumbing Inspector.
Ray was a member of Zion’s Cause Baptist Church in Benton. He also served his Lord as an ordained Deacon for over 50 years. His passion in life was to provide for his family, but most importantly ensure they knew the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. Ray loved working on his farm, riding horses, and being the best Papaw ever to his grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glenda Cox Davis; one daughter, Stacey Davis Smith (Jason) of Gilbertsville; one son, Dustin Ray Davis (Carrie) of Gilbertsville; two grandsons, Davis Lynn Smith and Paxton Ray Davis; one granddaughter, Elizabeth McKinley Davis; one sister Irene English; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson Maxwell Ray Davis; two brothers, John Davis and Charles Davis; three sisters, Charlene Davis Higgins, Marie Davis Hill, and June Davis Byrd.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr, 1117 Popular Street, Benton, KY 42025.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr with Bro. James Keeling and Bro. Charles Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
