Glenda Sue Orlowski, age 82, of Benton, KY, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 2:31pm at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY.
Born January 14, 1941 in West Frankfort, IL., she and her husband Bill moved to Benton, KY after he retired from the Illinois State Police. She and Bill spent their retirement years enjoying life, traveling, camping, being grandparents, taking motorcycle trips, and going on numerous scuba trips with close friends.
Although Sue was not a scuba diver, she went on all the trips and embroidered custom t-shirts and baseball caps for the dive group. At one point she even did an introductory scuba dive to the delight of everyone.
Sue was active with teaching sewing skills and baking for Parcell’s Deli and Grill in Draffenville, KY where her famous cakes and pies made the place very popular. When you visited the Orlowski household, it was like taking a vacation in a five-star restaurant.
Sue’s personality was such that she was “everyone’s mom.” She had a knack for engaging anyone in conversation and make them feel comfortable enough to talk to her like she was their own mother.
Sue was an active member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late John & Louise Bowers.
Sue is survived by her son Michael and wife Deanna of Villa Park, IL., two grandchildren, Madison Nicole Orlowski and Matthew John Orlowski, both of Villa Park, IL, and daughter-in-law Lisa of Rocky River, OH,
