FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Work zone from 51 to 55mm

PADUCAH, Ky. (November 1, 2023)  A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a work zone lane restriction along Interstate 24 in Lyon County starting Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

This work zone lane restriction will initially run along I-24 from the 51 mile marker to the 58 mile marker to allow the installation of special traffic striping designed for use on concrete pavement along both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

All traffic along this section of I-24 will move to the right-hand or driving lane to allow work along the passing lane.  Once the work is completed along the passing lane, traffic will be swapped to allow work along the driving lane.

Once the section from the 51 to 58 mile marker is completed, the contractor will move to a section of I-24 from the 57 mile marker to the 64 mile marker for the paint striping application same process.

Motorists should be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the work zone.  Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as the work progresses.
