Lady Marshals advance to District Championship game

Tuesday evening at Colburn Field, the Lady Marshals beat Graves County 7-0 to advance to the 2nd District Championship game on Thursday and a chance to win their seventh straight district title. They will meet the winner of Wednesday’s Murray vs. Calloway County game.

Presley Gallimore scored the Lady Marshals first goal on a corner kick 11 minutes in and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The Lady Marshals offense kicked into high gear in the second half. Two minutes in, a goal by Chloe Crosby with an assist to Zoe Maxlow put the Lady Marshals up 2-0. Maxlow scored the third goal off an assist from Amelia Boone and it was a 4-0 game o.n a header by Macy Scott off a corner kick from Boone.

Mia McGregor scored the fifth goal of the game with an assist by Gallimore followed by a goal by Boone for a 6-0 lead. Scott scored the final goal and her second of the night to finish out the 7-0 shutout.

Goalkeeper Phoebe Ramsey had two saves for the Lady Marshals.

Thursday’s championship game at Colburn Field kicks off at 5:30.
