
LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE
⦁ On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, around 6.10pm, the Sheriff’s Office received a criminal trespass complaint involving a teenager on residential property off US 641 North. Further investigation resulted in Briana L. Long (18) being cited to court on a charge of Criminal Trespass-2nd Degree. The investigation showed Long had previously been trespassed from the location by a Kentucky State Police Trooper after the property owner requested the notice be given.
⦁ On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, around 11pm, Deputy David Carroll located a vehicle which was stationary in the turning lane of US 62 Eastbound for the KY 373 intersection. After noticing the vehicle remaining standing in the roadway for a period of time, Deputy Carroll approached it and found the driver passed out behind the wheel. The driver was identified as Jonathon R. Prior (24) of Mattoon, IL. He was arrested by Deputy Carroll and charged with Possession of Open Container in Motor Vehicle and DUI-1st Offense.
⦁ On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Deputy Tyler Crane located Connie K. Jenkins (73) of Eddyville and charged her with Theft by Deception involving a check which was issued to the Lyon County Clerk which was later determined to be worthless.
⦁ On Thursday, September 21, 2023, around 4:55am, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to a single vehicle collision on Lake Barkley Drive in Kuttawa. The investigation revealed Benden Madsen (18) of Eddyville was driving a 2001 Lexus when a deer entered his path causing him to lose control and collide with a guardrail. The driver had minor injuries resulting from the impact.
⦁ On Friday, September 22, 2023, around 9am, deputies served a Henderson District Court bench warrant for failure to appear on Dana Brewer (40) of Henderson.
⦁ On Friday, September 22, 2023, around 1pm, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to a domestic dispute at the Huck’s Travel Center in Kuttawa. Upon arrival, deputies located and identified John D. Vaught, II (49) of Evansville, IN. He was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place-1st or 2nd Offense.
⦁ On Friday, September 22, 2023, around 7:15pm, Deputy Tyler Crane was dispatched to a single vehicle collision with minor injuries in the 1000 block of KY 295 North. The investigation revealed Daniel T. Gray (31) of Kuttawa was North on KY 295, driving a 2010 Hyundai, when he lost control of his vehicle, collided with a mailbox, before colliding with numerous trees and coming to rest in a creek bed. Gray was transported to Mercy Health Hospital in Paducah for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with DUI-1st Offense, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (2 counts), Possession of Controlled Substance-3rd Degree, and Drug Paraphernalia. Deputy Crane was assisted by the Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County EMS, and Eddyville Police Department.
⦁ On Sunday, September 24, 2023, around 6:40pm, Deputy David Carroll stopped a 2011 Mercedes Benz in Eddyville for a traffic offense. Further investigation led to the driver, Osheana L. Oliver (31), of Princeton, being charged with Expired Registration, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. She was cited to court for these offenses.
