Marshall County Invitational draws over 800 cross country runners

Addison Lyles and Kobey Yates had the top results for the Marshall County cross country teams at Saturday’s Marshall County Invitational.

Over 800 cross country runners and 46 schools from elementary through high school competed in Saturday’s Marshall County Invitational.

Addison Lyles and Kobey Yates turned in the top performances for Marshall County in the varsity races. Lyles finished third with a time of 19:51.46 and Yates crossed in fifth in 17:09.15.

The girls’ varsity race was won by Lydia Brunner from Father Ryan High School in Nashville. Brunner finished in 18:37.69. Father Ryan placed four runners in the top ten on their way to claiming the team win.

More results for the Lady Marshals came from Jessica Reed with a 22nd place finish in 23:14.61. Braelyn Spalding finished 27th in 23:23.26, Ava Sutherland placed 38th in 24:10.05, Delilah Evans finished 47th in 24:34.82, Laney Yates crossed in 62nd with 25:43.72, Alyssa Parr placed 90th in 28:35.07 and Kourtney Willie finished 112th in 32:36.64.

The Lady Marshals team finished second behind Father Ryan. The rest of the top five teams included Graves County in third, Murray placed fourth and Cape Central finished fifth.

Webster County’s Brice Nelson won the boys’ varsity race, stopping the clock in 16:39.23. The team from Father Ryan also placed four in the top 10 on their way to claiming a varsity sweep.

Following Yates, Walker Jones finished 24th with a time of 18:15.91. More results for the Marshals came from Fisher Beth in 35th with a time of 18:54.43, Daniel Walker placed 38th in 18:59.76, Owen Futrell was 57th in 19:29.50, Alex Abrams finished 82nd with 20:39.15, Jared Gaudy was 85th in 20:49.12, Hunter Wood placed 113th in 22:03.25, Sam Martin finished 129th in 22:58.27, Chase Duncan placed 129th in 23:23.27 and Jordan Offenback was 148th in 23:49.28.

The Marshals finished fourth in team standings. Behind Father Ryan, Carbondale took second, Paducah Tilghman third and rounding out the top five was Webster County in fifth.

In the middle school 4k race, the top Marshall County girls’ result was from Sophia Fite who placed third in 19:40.96. For the boys, Callen Madole finished 16th with a time of 17:50.35. Mercy Whitt from Lancaster Christian won the girls middle school race in 15:59.85. The boy’s race was won by Brandon DeJarnett of Community Christian Academy with a time of 15:38.98.

Graves County girls and New Covenant Christian Academy boys won the middle school team titles. The Marshall County boys placed third.

In the elementary 1600 meter race, Ella Loxley from John Paul II took first in 6:35.52 and Myron Reeves from Trigg County placed first in 6:11.01. The top Marshall County finish came from Cayden Madole from Benton Elementary who placed ninth in 7:31.82.
