Doug Wilson, age 79, Melber, KY, passed away at 2:48 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his residence.

Doug was a Christian first and a long time member of Lone Oak Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for 32 years, taught Sunday School  and Group Life Classes for many years.  Doug was retired from University of Kentucky where he served as McCracken County Extension Agent.  Doug, being a farmer from birth, spent 60 plus years farming.  He was very innovative in the farming industry, starting with he and his father operating the Ford Equipment in Mayfield, KY.  Doug worked for the Environmental Protection Agency which helped him understand the use of insecticides on the farm.  He was up to date on types of seeds and was always willing to share. Doug had the first farrowing heated barn for pigs in the state of Kentucky.

Doug’s hobbies included his farm, flying airplanes and was President of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Paulette Lamm Wilson; two daughters, Maryann Cain of Melber and Nancy (Michael) Rasche of Paducah; eight grandchildren, Jay Cain, Clayton (Samantha) Cain, Brooke Cain (Max Laughlin), Meredith Rasche, Caroline Rasche, Gantry Rasche, Gatlin Rasche and Hayden Rasche; two great-grandchildren, Maisyn Cain and Wilson Cain; one brother, Andrew Wilson, Folsomdale, Ky and two nephews, Eric Wilson and Adam Wilson.

Preceding in death was his parents, Cloys McClain Wilson and Eva Mae Clark Wilson and one brother, Roger Dale Wilson.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Lone Oak Church of Christ with Paul Wingfield, Jamie Boone, Andy Wilson and Christian Wingfield officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday, September 23. 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m. at the Church.
