

Drake Creek Golf Club was the site of Tuesday’s boys Region 1 Championship. The Marshals were going for a second straight title and fourth over the last five years but had to beat out another region favorite McCracken County to do so.
Coming down to the wire, the Mustangs took the Region 1 title by four strokes over the Marshals. McCracken County finished with a team score of 311 and the Marshals finished with 315. Both teams will advance to the Sub-State round of the KHSAA State Golf Tournament next week at Calvert City Country Club along with the next top 10 individuals.
DJ Morris won medalist honors with a 1-under par 71, joining a long list of Marshall County players earning the Region 1 individual title. The last five of six individual winners have come from Marshall County.
Marshall County team scores following Morris included a 1-over 73 from Ryan Stokes, Paxton Carter shot 85, Andy Jones carded an 86 and Nolan Hurst finished with 93.

The 10 individuals who advance to next week include Travis Perry 72 (Lyon County), Aiden Hahn 74 (St. Mary), Jeremiah Foster 74 (Crittenden County), Maddox O’Guinn 76 (Graves County), Evan Hack 78 (Paducah Tilghman), Luke Wilson 78 (St. Mary), Dawson Hicks 79 (CFS) and Zack Grogan 80 (Carlisle County).
