In the early morning hours of 09-12-2023, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office received information that Cody Wayne Johnson (31) of South Fulton, TN was possibly in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County.
Johnson was wanted on multiple felony warrants (7) and was considered armed and dangerous. Johnson has a history of fleeing from law enforcement, narcotics possession / sales & possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
At around 4:00 a.m. this morning, Johnson was observed in a vehicle in the Lone Oak area. McCracken County deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the 2005 Mercedes-Benz SUV at this time. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and traveled to the southern portion of the county.
The vehicle fled through multiple fields and wooded areas until it became disabled in a creek bed behind a residence on Contest Road. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Andrea Leftridge (36) of Paducah. Leftridge and Johnson fled on foot from the vehicle onto the property of a nearby farm.
Leftridge and Johnson were able to steal a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado from the farm and again fled from deputies on Contest Road. Johnson was operating the truck at this time, southbound on Contest Road. Deputies were able to deploy ‘Stop Sticks’ on the truck prior to it turning on Luigs Lane. Johnson was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway and collided head on with a tree. Johnson and Leftridge fled the vehicle on foot at this time.
After an exhaustive search, Johnson & Leftridge were located walking in the 6500 block on New Hope Church Road (2.3 miles from where they fled) at around 11:00 a.m. Leftridge surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
Johnson fled on foot into a horse pasture upon seeing deputies in the area. Deputy Steve Croft deployed his K9 partner Oscar into the horse pasture. Oscar was quickly able to apprehend Johnson, who was then taken into custody.
