Marshals beat Murray 3-2 in double overtime

Logan Parker scored the Marshals two regulation time goals that sent the game into overtime against Murray.

Following two losses in last weekend’s Purples Classic to #1 ranked St. Xavier 5-0 and #4 ranked Daviess County 5-1, the Marshals are back in the win column achieving no small feat in Murray on Thursday. The Marshals beat Murray 3-2 in double overtime to sweep the regular season games over the Tigers.

In a must-win game for both teams to keep the number one seed in the district tournament alive, the score was 0-0 at halftime.

Max Rosa had a couple of good looks at goals for Murray in the first half and following a shot on goal by Kellen Crouch in the second half saved by Steven Claborn, Rosa found the back of the net to put Murray up 1-0.

Logan Parker scored the equalizer off an assist by Zander Maxlow but with 12 minutes remaining, Nico Miranda scored to put back on top 2-1.

With three minutes left on the clock, Parker kept the Marshals hopes alive with his second goal to tie it 2-2 and at the final whistle, the game went into overtime.

After a scoreless first five-minute overtime period, another five minutes went up on the clock for the second overtime.

The Marshals scored in the opening seconds on a perfectly played set piece that started with Parker to Maxlow to Hayden McMillin then on to Isaac Reynolds for the goal and 3-2 win.

Up next is a game at Paducah Tilghman on Tuesday.
