Cross Country team kicks season off at CC Season Opener in Hopkinsville

Marshall County junior Addison Lyles finished second in the first meet of the cross country season in Hopkinsville.

Marshall County’s cross country team opened the 2023 season on Saturday at the CC Season Opener hosted by Hopkinsville High School. The top result of the day was turned in by junior Addison Lyles who placed second, less than four seconds behind first place finisher and seventh grader, Emmie Underwood from Fort Campbell.

The rest of the girls’ results came from Ava Moore in 25th with a time of 26:13.26, Addie Dogherty finished 43rd in 29:53.22, Alyssa Parr was 51st with 31:25.02 and Kourtney White placed 62nd in 35:07.44.

Sophomore Daniel Walker turned in the top finish for the boys’ team, placing eighth with a time of 18:45.55. Webster County’s Brice Nelson took the win with a time of 17:14.73.

More Marshall County boys’ results came from Walker Jones with a 14th place finish in 19:02.38, Owen Futrell finished 23rd in 19:43.58 and Kasey Wyatt was 92nd with 24:22.90.

Team wins went to Wester County boys and the girls from Bowling Green.

Next up on the schedule is the Madisonville Classic on Saturday, August 26.

Sophomore Daniel Walker finished inside the top 10 in eighth place at Saturday’s CC Season Opener in Hopkinsville.
