Marshals shutout Graves County 2-0

Senior Zander Maxlow, pictured here in the Marshals win over Mayfield, scored just seconds before the final whistle to give the Marshals a 2-0 win over Graves County.

The Marshals improved to 3-0 with Tuesday’s 2-0 district win over Graves County. It was their eighth straight win over the Eagles dating back to the 2018 season.

Sophomore Cade Sorrells scored the first goal of the night less than 10 minutes in, and it looked like that would be it despite the Marshals dominating control of the game and taking 33 shots to just two for the Eagles over the 80 minutes of play.

In the closing seconds of the game, senior Zander Maxlow scored off an assist from Isaac Reynolds for the 2-0 final.

The Marshals had 16 shots on goal which made for a busy night for Graves County goalkeeper Carsyn Capiz who had 14 saves.

The Marshals will host Calloway County (2-1) in their home opener on Thursday in a double header with the Lady Marshals.
