Marshall County Health Dept. July 2023 Update

Marshall County Health Department’s July Community Update addresses several topics including:

               • The extremely high heat – the #1 weather related cause of death

                •Animal bites – animal bites increase in the warmer months due to people being out more

                •Malaria – CDC recently sent out a HAN alert of cases of cases identified in Florida and                          Texas. None reported in Kentucky.

                •Pertussis – The Kentucky Dept for Public Health sent out a HAN alert for cases identified                      in Kentucky.

                •Alpha-Gal Syndrome – Another tick borne illness that can be life threatening
