
LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE
- On Thursday, July 20th, 2023, at 4pm, sheriff’s deputies served a Mercer District Court bench warrant on inmate Jeffery C. Carmickle (25) of Harrodsburg. Carmickle will remain lodged as a state inmate with the Department of Corrections until being extradited to Mercer County.
- On Friday, July 21st, 2023, at 4:05pm, Sheriff Brent White arrested Alisha M. Clark (34) of Dawson Springs on a complaint warrant charging her with Cruelty to Animals-2nd On June 12th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office received an animal complaint from concerned citizens who had located puppies abandoned near the Cumberland River in a very rural portion of Lyon County. The investigation revealed Clark as the person who abandoned multiple animals at this location. Clark was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
- On Friday, July 21st, 2023, around 11pm, the Kentucky State Police received a call reporting a suspicious male approaching people and acting oddly at a Kuttawa business on Days Inn Drive. Sheriff Brent White responded and could not initially locate the suspicious male; however, he located several people who gave a description of the male and reported he was intoxicated.
As Sheriff White drove around the area, he observed the subject driving a Ford F150 back into the parking lot. The driver was identified as Dale R. Turley (28) of Mishawaka, IN. He was found to be extremely intoxicated and was subsequently arrested. Turley was charged with DUI-2nd Offense and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
- On Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, around 10:43am, the Kentucky State Police received a call reporting the driver of a silver Cadillac who was unconscious/unresponsive and parked in an intersection at Days Inn Drive and US 62 West. Sheriff Brent White, Eddyville Police Sgt. Shannon Oliver, and Lyon County EMS responded. Efforts to wake up the driver were initially unsuccessful, and the vehicle was locked and running. Sgt. Oliver attempted to gain access to the vehicle by way of a passenger’s side window. The driver woke up and then collided with Sgt. Oliver’s patrol vehicle in the intersection. Sgt. Oliver was slightly injured in the incident and later sought medical treatment.
The driver was identified as Brent C. Bennett (54) of Eddyville. He was determined to be under the influence of an unknown intoxicating substance and found to possess illegal narcotics. He was arrested by Sheriff White and charged with the following offenses:
- Improper Parking/Blocking Traveled Portion of Roadway
- Criminal Mischief-1st Degree ($1,000 or more damage to EPD cruiser)
- DUI-1st Offense
- No Insurance-2nd Offense
- Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Controlled Substance-3rd Degree (Drug Unspecified)
- Drug Paraphernalia-Use/Possession
Bennett was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
- On Saturday, July 22, 2023, around 5:09pm, Deputy David Carroll was dispatched to a reckless driving complaint in Kuttawa. The caller followed the involved vehicle to a business in Eddyville and provided relevant information as well as a registration number to Kentucky State Police dispatch. Deputy Carroll located the vehicle and driver in Eddyville and determined his license was suspended for multiple points violations.
Deputy Carroll charged Austin D. Brindley (24) of Kuttawa with Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License. He was also found to illegally possess a handgun and ammunition while he was a convicted felon from a Graves Circuit Court conviction in November of 2022. Brindley was arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
