LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE

⦁ On Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, around 12:20pm, Sheriff Brent White, Chief Deputy Sam Adams, and Eddyville PD, along with Eddyville Fire Department and Lyon County EMS were dispatched to a rollover injury collision on KY 295 at JC Garner Road. The investigation by Sheriff White revealed a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Harrison G. Brewer (92) of Marion was Northbound on KY 295 when he apparently had a medical event, and his vehicle left the roadway before impacting a ditch and culvert. After colliding with the culvert, the vehicle began a series of rollover events before coming to rest in the right shoulder ditch area and overturned on its side. Harrison had to be extricated by the Eddyville Fire Department. He was later transported to Mercy Health Hospital in Paducah for his injuries.

⦁ On Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, around 3:10pm, the Sheriff’s Office responded to four suspicious persons complaints on Wednesday afternoon around 3pm in the area of KY 730E and KY 903. Callers reported a male and female on foot going up to houses and farms and acting suspicious.

At approximately 5:30pm, Deputy Aaron O’Leary and Sheriff Brent White located an unconscious female in a wooded area off KY 730E. Lyon County EMS was summoned, and she was treated at the scene. She was identified as Tandie Murray (44) of Big Rock, TN. She was subsequently arrested and charged with a Failure to Appear bench warrant from Lyon District Court. In addition, she was found to possess suspected Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Murray was also charged with Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree.

K-9 KAOS and Deputy David Carroll arrived and began tracking the male suspect until they reached a pond and lost the trail. A K-9 Team from the KY Dept. of Corrections was also requested, and they brought bloodhounds to the scene where a K-9 also tracked the male suspect for a considerable distance across multiple fields and wooded areas.

Deputy Carroll later got on horseback with the assistance of a local farmer and began searching one area while Deputy O’Leary and another group searched the opposite direction.

At approximately 8pm, a caller reported a suspicious male on Friendship Road near My Refuge. Eddyville Police Officer Josh Travis was the nearest officer to that location, and he arrived and detained the male subject without further incident.

Deputy Carroll responded and identified the subject as Derek J. Smith (41) of Big Rock, TN (formerly of Eddyville). He was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (Meth) and Drug Paraphernalia possession. He was also charged with Criminal Trespassing-2nd Degree (barn) and Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree. It was also determined that Smith failed to appear in court earlier the same day.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the many citizen volunteers and agencies who assisted in these incidents. Both Murray and Smith were lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ On Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, around 7:30pm, sheriff’s deputies and Sheriff White were conducting an investigation in the South end of the county when an unruly passenger in a vehicle was detained. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place-1st Offense. He was identified as Dustin G. Parr (30) of Eddyville.

⦁ On Thursday, June 29th, 2023, around 10:25am, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a driver whose license was suspended and repeatedly continues to drive. Sheriff Brent White located Vidal Gonzalez (55) of Kuttawa operating a pickup truck on KY 373. Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Operating on Suspended/Revoked License and No Seat Belt in Use. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ On Thursday, June 29th, 2023, around 11:20am, Deputy Lori Francis served Fayette District Court bench warrant on Anthony Fields (33) of Nicholasville. Fields with drug trafficking and possession offenses. In an unrelated case from Jessamine District Court, Fields was also charged with Failure to Pay Restitution stemming from a vehicle collision case. He will remain lodged in the Western KY Correctional Complex pending extradition back to Fayette County.

⦁ On Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 9:30am, Sheriff Brent White charged Derek J. Smith (41) formerly of Eddyville, with Contempt of Court in a Fleeing/Evading Police and Criminal Trespass case out of Lyon District Court from May of this year. He remains lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ On Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 10:50am, Sheriff Brent White charged Bryan M. Boswell (36) of Owensboro on a Daviess Circuit Court indictment warrant charging him with Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000 and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon. He will remain lodged in the Western KY Correctional Complex pending extradition back to Daviess County.

⦁ On Friday, June 30th, 2023, at 5:55pm, Sheriff Brent White arrested and charged Ashley M. Pence (34) formerly of Leitchfield, with a Lyon Circuit Court indictment warrant charging her with Promoting Contraband-1st Degree and Persistent Felony Offender-2nd Degree. Pence is lodged in the Ross-Cash Correctional Complex.
