
On May 21st 2023 at 12:02 pm, deputies were dispatched to an injury collision on I-24 near the west bound 11 mile marker.
Traffic was slowing or stopped in the area due to a separate collision that deputies were working.
Eugene Cooper, 70 years old from Cadiz, KY, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle west bound. A vehicle in front of him came to a stop and Cooper was unable to stop in time before colliding with the rear of the vehicle.
The vehicle that was struck by Cooper was a 2012 Chevy Tahoe. The driver, 83 year old Charles Hohenberg of Clayton, Mo, was not injured. 63 year old Victoria Hohenberg was a passenger in the vehicle. She was not injured.
Cooper was taken by Mercy EMS to a local hospital where he was then airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center for his injuries.
Mercy EMS, Reidland Farley Fire Department, and Prestige Towing assisted at the scene. Traffic was slowed to one lane for approximately an hour during the investigation.
