Mrs. Velie E. (Balentine) Eads, 87 of Murray, KY passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Murray, KY.
Born November 16, 1935, in Trigg County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Audie and Florence (Askew) Balentine. She retired from Ingram Barge Company, where she worked as a cook and a training officer. Prior to working for Ingram Barge, she was a cook at Kenlake State Park. She was a member and long-time church pianist at Dexter Pentecostal Church, Dexter, KY.
Velie is survived by her children, Kenneth Jones of Murray, KY, Teresa G. (Charles) Joyce of Aurora, KY, Tammy (Teddy) Hicks of Murray, KY, Betty (Steve) Phillips of Aurora, KY and Keith Jones of Murray, KY; brothers, David M. (Gayle) Balentine of Murray, KY, Rev. Elijah H. Balentine of Dexter, KY, and Jerry D. Balentine of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Alice (Homer) McCoy of Murray, KY; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerral “Jerry” Eads, and siblings; Ralph Gordon Balentine, Flora Mae Higgins, Dorothy Lucille Baker, Thomas A. Jefferson Balentine, Helen Lurlene Litchfield, William Isaac Balentine, and Margie Nell Balentine.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY with Rev. Steve Phillips officiating. Burial will follow the service in the New Jenny Ridge Cemetery, Murray, KY.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 18, 2023, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4th St., Murray, KY 42071.
