Marshall County won their fifth straight 4th District Championship 8-2 over Calloway County on Tuesday in Murray. It was the sixth straight title game between the two teams with the Lakers last win coming in 2017.
Carter McKinney earned the win over five and two thirds innings, the senior striking out 11, giving up two runs on four hits.
Things got rolling for the Marshals in the bottom of the second when Reese Oakley and Jace Driver drew walks off of Calloway County pitcher Keagan Rollins. Maddox Cope reached on an error to load the bases and Gavin Clark hit a single that drove in the first two runs.

Another walk to McKinney was followed by a 3-run home run by Ethan Landis for a 5-0 lead.
The Marshals loaded the bases again in the bottom of the third against pitcher Iziah Cruz and a walk by Clark brought in the first of three runs in the inning. McKinney drove in two runs with a single to center field that extended the Marshals lead to 8-0.
The Lakers put their first run on the board in the top of the fourth on a double by Bryson Dennis and added a second run in the top of the sixth when Cadwell Turner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Oakley and Jace Driver came to the mound in relief of McKinney to finish out the one and a third inning remaining, not giving up a single hit.
