
LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE
⦁ On Monday, May 1st, 2023, around 2:15pm, Deputy Jason Young investigated a complaint in the Lyon County High School which resulted in a 16-year-old male juvenile being charged with Harassment (physical contact) upon a female student. The juvenile was released to his parents with the approval of the Court Designated Worker.
⦁ On Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, around 10:50am, Deputy Jason Young investigated a complaint in the Lyon County Middle School which resulted in a 13-year-old male juvenile being charged with Possession of Marijuana. An administrative search of the child by school personnel resulted in the discovery of possible contraband. The administration then contacted SRO Young who initiated an investigation which led to charges. The child was released to his father with the approval of the Court Designated Worker.
⦁ On Thursday, May 4th, 2023, around 1:52pm, Chief Deputy Sam Adams was dispatched to a single vehicle collision approximately ten miles South of Eddyville on KY 93. His investigation revealed a 1999 Chevrolet truck, driven by David Massey (29) of Eddyville swerved to avoid a deer before losing control of his truck and colliding with a guard rail. No injuries were reported in this incident.
⦁ On Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, around 10am, Chief Deputy Sam Adams arrested and charged Robert K. Ford (47) of Princeton with a KY Parole Violation Warrant. Ford was arrested in Eddyville and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
⦁ On Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, around 9:30pm, Deputy Danny Collings made a traffic stop on KY 93 South for a registration violation. Upon further investigation, he identified the driver as Dee A. Kinnis (54) of Marion. She was subsequently arrested for No or Expired Registration Plates/Receipts, Operating on a Suspended/Revoked Operator’s License, Failure to Maintain Required Insurance, and Possessing License When Privileges are Revoked. Kinnis was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
⦁ On Thursday, May 11th, 2023, around 1pm, Sheriff Brent White was processing a vehicle released from the county impound lot when he discovered the man who drove to the Sheriff’s Office, identified as Wade W. Carter, III (54) of Kingsport, TN had a suspended operator’s license. A computer check revealed Carter had failed to maintain required insurance and had failed to appear for multiple court appearances, including a trial. He was arrested and charged with Operating on a Suspended/Revoked Operator’s License and Possessing License When Privileges are Revoked. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
⦁ On Friday, May 12th, 2023, around 2:50pm, Sheriff Brent White responded to Kuttawa for a 2-vehicle collision on US 62 at Days Inn Drive. The investigation revealed a 2014 Ford Explorer, driven by Elliott Watkins (28) of Waterloo, IL was turning from Huck’s Travel Center at the same time a 2023 Kenworth driven by Albert Moores (51) of Searcy, AR was also turning at the intersection, when they collided in the Eastbound lanes of US 62. No injuries were reported in the incident.
⦁ On Friday, May 12th, 2023, around 6:10pm, Sheriff Brent White and Deputy Danny Collings responded to a 2-vehicle collision on US 62 between Eddyville and Kuttawa. The investigation revealed a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck was East bound on US 62 when the driver, identified as Christopher Wilburn, Jr. (23) of Princeton, lost control of his vehicle and ran into the median to avoid colliding with another vehicle which was slowing down for a 2020 Hyundai, driven by Douglas Sanders (60) of Gilbertsville. Sanders was attempting to make a U-turn on the four-lane highway. Wilburn’s vehicle narrowly missed the slowing vehicle in front of him, but once leaving the roadway, his vehicle collided with the Sanders vehicle in the median crossover. There were no injuries reported in the collision. Wilburn was charged with Possession of Marijuana by Deputy Collings; however, he was determined not to be under the influence at the time of the collision.
⦁ On Saturday, May 13th, 2023, around 1:50pm, Sheriff Brent White and Deputy Danny Collings responded to a reckless driving complaint in Kuttawa on US 62. This resulted in a traffic stop on a 2002 Volkswagen Passat driven by Felece Kern (53) of Eddyville. Following a roadside investigation, Kern was arrested by Deputy Collings and charged with DUI-1st Offense (controlled substance). She was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center. Officer Josh Travis of the Eddyville Police Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office on this complaint.
⦁ On Monday, May 15th, 2023, at 7:40am, Deputy Lori Francis charged Torey Christian (38) of Hopkinsville on an Oldham Circuit Court indictment warrant charging him with Sodomy-1st Degree and Terroristic Threatening-3rd Degree. He awaits extradition to Oldham County and is currently lodged in the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex.
