Lady Eagles fall to Calloway County in 4th District Tournament

Lillian Burnett connected for a double in the bottom of the second inning in the Lady Eagles 4th District Tournament game against Calloway County on Monday.

Christian Fellowship’s season came to an end on Monday with a 4-0 loss to Calloway County in the 4th District Tournament played at Murray High. The Lady Eagles battled from the first pitch to the last in their effort to extend their season.

A triple off the bat of Preslee Phillips set up Calloway County’s first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. A single by Emerson Grogan brought in the run. Lily Burnett and Madie Siebert hit doubles in the second and third innings for CFS putting runners in scoring position but were left stranded.

Maddie Siebert was safe at second base after she hit a leadoff double in the top of the third inning for the Lady Eagles.

Calloway County took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a single by Sophie Lax that scored Phillips. The Lady Lakers scored their final two runs in the fourth inning on doubles hit by Carson McReynolds and Phillips.

The Lady Eagles continued to battle, putting runners on in the sixth and seventh innings. Renee Shields hit a ground ball and reached on an error in the sixth and Burnett singled to lead off the seventh.

Jayden Jackson pitched her final game for the Lady Eagles, the senior surrendering eight hits among the four runs with one strike out. Emerson Grogan got the win for the Lady Lakers, striking out seven and giving up three hits.

CFS finishes the season with a record of 11-10. Calloway County will play Marshall County in Tuesday’s championship game at 5:30.
