Clyde Chism, 85 of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Clyde was born in Emmet, Arkansas on July 14, 1937 to the late Frank Lee Chism and Mary Elizabeth Bradford Chism. He worked as a mechanical engineer at Oscar Mayer for 22 years and at Western Baptist Hospital for 21 years before retiring. Clyde enjoyed playing guitar and watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a member of Vanzora Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Greg Chism, wife, Mevlyn of Benton, KY; three daughters, Sheila Drews of Volvo, IL, Sandra Ruth, husband, Jim of Antioch, IL and Shelly Haney, husband, David of Eldorado, IL; four sisters, his twin, Clair Howard, Adele Gresham, Charlene Tedford and Dorothy Light; eight grandchildren, Robert Rogers, Timothy Ruth, Shane Cunningham, Daniel Ruth, Anthony Cunningham, Dustin Cunningham, Brandon Lynch and Miranda Amiris; 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette “Betty” Hurst Chism; granddaughter, Amy Lynn Drews; son-in-law, David Drews; four brothers, Charles Chism, William Chism, John Chism, Lee Chism; six sisters, Vivian Watkins, Alene Hicks, Helen Ruth Sporleter, Elizabeth Pitts, Vera Maw Jackson, Lela McGarrity; and his parents.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home.
