John William Walker, 89 of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
John was born in Marshall County on January 2, 1934 to the late Dave and Ruth Walker. He was a veteran of the United States Army. John and his wife, Rosie, owned and operated the Benton Drive-In for 35 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and watching Marshall County basketball. John was a member of Union Hill Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son, Kyle Walker; daughter, Jonda Smith, husband, Russell; and two grandchildren, Staci Smith and Ethan Walker, all of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rosie Walker; four brothers, Donnie Walker, Joe Walker, Harry Walker and Tom Walker; four sisters, Mary Holifield, Mildred Cornwell, Vernell Hicks and Florene Gregory; and his parents.
A funeral service for John and Rosie will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Josh Herndon and Don McBrayer officiating. Interment will follow at Edwards Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Baptist Health Paducah for the love and care they showed to their father and family, as well as the support they have given over the last weeks.
