On May 2nd, 2023, at approximately 1:16 P.M. deputies were dispatched to the Brookport Bridge for a two-vehicle collision with injuries.
Through investigation it was discovered that Fatima Hollis 48 years old, of Carbondale Illinois was operating her 2019 Hyundai south on the Brookport Bridge entering Kentucky from Illinois, when it was struck from the rear by a 2019 Nissan being operated by Carl Poole 60 years old of Tampa Florida.
Carl Poole was determined to be under the influence. He was also found to be in possession of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and items of drug paraphernalia.
Fatima Hollis was transported by Mercy Regional EMS to a local hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
The Brookport Bridge was shut down for approximately 50 minutes.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Massac County Sheriff’s Office, Mercy Regional EMS, Concord Fire, and Prestige Towing.
Arrested:
- Carl Poole 60 years old of Tampa Florida.
Charges:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of substance 1st Offense (aggravating circumstances).
- Wanton endangerment 1st degree.
- Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (Methamphetamine).
- Possession of Marijuana.
- Possession of drug paraphernalia.
