Jennie Y. Davis, age 93, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away comfortably at the Jackson Oaks Retirement Community at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
Jennie was born on May 31, 1929 to the late George and Jennie Gray Young. She was a member of the Lone Oak United Methodist Church. Jennie was a 1947 graduate of Reynolds High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgia State College for Women and her Master of Arts in Education from Eastern Kentucky University. She retired as Curriculum Director for Lee County Schools in Georgia. She loved music and spoke often as being a member of the heavenly choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Bill) Gholson of Paducah; one granddaughter, Ashley (Christopher) Holland of spring, TX; one great-granddaughter, Katherine “Kate” Holland; one sister, Susan (Carl) Foley, Worcester, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death was her parents; two sisters, Virginia Davidson and Eleanor Walker; three brothers, Hubert Young, James Young, and Charles Young.
Services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, April, 21, 2023 at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time of noon at the funeral home.
