Phillip Ray “Vern” Quillen , 65, of Columbus, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at his home.
Phillip was born in Clinton, Kentucky on February 2, 1958 to the late Earnest and Georgia Frizzell Quillen. He was of the Christian faith. Phillip worked with the maintenance department at Jackson Purchase Medical Center for 24 years. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning vegetables. Phillip was a big animal person and had a special place his heart for his Labrador “Sadie”. He will be remembered as being a hard worker, and someone who loved his friends and family.
Phillip is survived by one daughter, Heather Comer (Chris) of England, Arkansas; one son, Charles Stephen of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Phyllis Quillen Ryan (Patrick) of Douglas, Georgia; two grandchildren, Taylissa Sims (Elijah), Christian Comer; four great grandchildren, Elijah Sims, Jr., Wesley Sims, Mikko Sims, and Serena Sims.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Burkley Cemetery in Burkley, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
