Dear Friends and Neighbors of the Marshall County Rescue Squad,
The Marshall County Rescue Squad has begun its Annual Spring Fundraiser Letter Drive. In 2022 the Marshall County Rescue Squad was able to successfully reobtain 501c3 status. This was a huge accomplishment for the Squad as we are NOT a tax-based entity and survive solely on our community’s contributions and the grants we seek. Last year alone it took over $70,000 to operate the Squad effectively; these expenses included maintaining our equipment, facilitating training events, providing the upkeep of a building, paying utilities and insurance expenses. Within this letter, we would like to highlight just a few of the things that we accomplished for the county and its residents.
The Marshall County Rescue Squad, along with Living Lands and Water organized and completed one of the largest dive events that has been done to date in this part of the country. This event was organized to help remove large amounts of the debris, from our December 2021 tornado out of our lake and bay areas for the safety of our community. During this event, we recovered thousands of pounds of debris that if allowed to be left in our waterways, would have created a hazardous environment for the ecosystem along with those wishing to use the water for recreational purposes. Marshall County Rescue Squad was also responsible for the successful rescue attempts of 4 lives! One was a vehicle taking on water, and we were successful in getting the driver out of the vehicle with water up to her neck. The three other lives were during one of the coldest times our county had experienced in years, and their boat was stranded on Kentucky Lake while they were duck hunting during sub-zero temperatures. Without the quick, efficient response of your Marshall County Rescue Squad either one of these events could have resulted in a tragic outcome.
Marshall County Rescue Squad humbly asks for your financial support to continue the level of service that we wish to do so for our community. Our request is that you please consider a minimal donation of $30.00. Although the amount requested would help us to reach our goals any amount will be greatly appreciated. Our goal this year is to raise at least $75,000 to replenish the budget and possibly start saving to replace some of our outdated vehicles.
Marshall County Rescue Squad will only be sending out this donation request letter for our Spring Fundraiser. We will not be calling you or knocking on your door during the next few months. Please do not hesitate to report any type of solicitation other than this request. Our Membership deeply appreciates your continued financial support for our vital mission that allows us to help many in their darkest hours.
Respectfully,
Kenny Pratt, Chief
