
Marshall County boys placed first among a strong field of 23 teams and Calloway County girls took first at Saturday’s Invitational of the South at Marshall County High School. The Marshall County girls team placed second in the field of 21 teams.
The Marshals recorded 17 top 10’s on their way to the team title. Two first place finishes came in the 4 x 400 relay (1:47.30) and Daniel Walker took first in the freshman 1600 meters (5:16.45). Preston Lamb claimed second in the 400 meters (51.55) and two relay teams – the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 – placed second.
Alexander Holman placed second in the long jump (20-03.75), third in the triple jump (39-05.00) and sixth in high jump (5-10) to earn valuable points for the Marshals.
Kobey Yates took third in the 1600 meters (4:40.73) and the 4 x 200 relay team finished third. A couple of fourth place finishes to round out top-5’s came from Jack Johnson in pole vault (10-06) and Aiden Dunigan in the triple jump (38-09.00).

The girls’ team was led by Rylee Thompson who posted two first place finishes in the long jump (16-03) and triple jump (34-01.50) and Addison Lyles who won the 3200 meters (11:55.95).
A strong showing in the throws came from Phoebe Ramsey who took first in shot put (33-09) and Bailey Allred second (32-09). Allred placed second in discus (101-09) and Georgia Hall took third (100-06).
Rounding out top five finishes for the girls, the 4 x 400 freshman relay team placed second, the 4 x 800 relay took fourth and Madison Edwards finished fifth in pole vault (6-06).
