Frances York Cope, 81, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Mercy Health Lourdes in Paducah, Kentucky.
Frances was born in Marshall County, Kentucky to the late Robert and Nettie Lowery Ham on March 16,1942. She attended Droughon’s Business College in Paducah and spent over 50 years working as a Tax Specialist and Preparer. Frances loved to travel and enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She had a special place in her heart for children and loved spending time entertaining kids. Over the years she became known as “Everybody’s Nanny” to many of her family members and even the neighbor children. Frances was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Frances is survived by one sister, Valetta Jo English Sirls (Doug) of Benton, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her first husband, Jackie Lynn York; her second husband, Jimmie Don Cope; one son, Mitchell Lynn York; one infant son, Daryl Wayne York; six sisters, Irene Smith, Louise Gronnert, Rosie Sinkler, Mildred Sue Filbeck, Margaret “Jean” Youngblood, and Virginia Hancock; four brothers, R.A. Ham, Ralph Ham, Winford Ham, and Charles Ham; and her parents.
A Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM at New Harmony Baptist Church. Bro Scott Pinnick and Bro. Phillip Foley officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at New Harmony Baptist Church.
