Martha Jean Hammonds Sams, age 69, of Arlington, Kentucky passed on March8, 2023 at Continue Care Hospital Baptist Health in Paducah.
Mrs. Sams was born on November 23, 1953 to the late John Hammonds and Mildred Fisher Hammonds.
She was of the Baptist faith. Martha worked in the clothing industry for Burkhart’s Manufacturing. She enjoyed listening to country music, watching westerns and the Wheel of Fortune. She was a huge fan of Elvis and Gunsmoke. The big loves in her life was her son Richard, best known by “Little Ricky”, and being with her family and grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her sister, Kaye Rideout (Glen) of Bardwell, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Kelsey Drew, Keeley West, Dakota Sams and Matthew Sams; and four great-grandchildren, Jake Sams, Railyn Drew, Myla Drew, and Addison West; two nephews, Jon Rideout and Robert Rideout.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Eugene Sams, Jr; one sister, Ruby Dorris; and niece, Rebecca Dorris.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Rev. Larry Frasier officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
