  1. On Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at 1:30pm, Sheriff Brent White responded to a trespass and animal complaint at the MaxFuel convenience store on KY 293. A manager reported a male subject was there with a dog which was trying to bite customers, so they asked the male subject to leave the premises; however, it was reported he was refusing to leave.  Upon arrival, Sheriff White found the subject coming out from behind the store.  The dog was also found tied up and unattended.  When Chief Deputy Sam Adams arrived, the dog attempted to bite him as well; thus, the dog warden was requested to take possession of the animal.  The investigation revealed the dog bit a store employee on the ankle but did not break the skin, and it tried to bite customers as they were coming/going from the store.  The management reportedly gave the subject multiple opportunities to leave; however, he would not leave the premises, and later began urinating in public prior to the arrival of law enforcement.  Sheriff White arrested the subject, who was identified as Paul C. Davis (43), of Golconda, IL.  He was charged with Criminal Trespass-2nd Degree, Harboring a Vicious Animal, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia-Possession.  Davis was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center and his dog was taken to the Crittenden County Animal Shelter.
