Polar Plunge & Polar 5K supports Special Olympics

Bright sunny skies and water temperatures in the 50’s greeted Saturday’s Western Kentucky Polar Plungers at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. They day began with the annual Polar 5K. The Opening Ceremonies were held at the Convention Center followed by the Plunge.

This year’s Polar Plunge was a bit different with safety issues a concern on the dock. Instead of jumping, the Plungers walked a distance into the water and back to the shore.

The 2023 goal is to raise $60,000 and as of Saturday, they have raised $75,743.71. Each year, the Polar Plunge & Polar 5K raises money to support individuals with intellectual disabilities who participate in year-round sports and health programming provided by Special Olympics Kentucky.
