Eagles season ends in 4th District semifinal loss to Murray

Christian Fellowship played the 4th District Tournament #1 seed Murray High in Monday’s semifinal and the Tigers ended their season with a final score of 83-52. Murray will advance to the championship game on Thursday against Marshall County who beat Calloway County 58-53 to advance.

Murray amassed a 40-13 lead at halftime behind 12 points from Kobe Watson and nine from Drew May. Not a team to back off, the Eagles outscored Murray 23-21 in the third quarter behind 17 big points from senior Andrew Dunning but still trailed 61-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

Bench players contributed to Murray’s win in the fourth quarter but CFS outscored the Tigers by four before the final buzzer.

After just two first half points, Dunning finished with 23 in the game while dropping in a trio of three-pointers. Elijah Grigg scored 13 points, 11 of those coming in the second half. Eleven Murray players scored led by Watson with 16.

Christian Fellowship’s season ends with a record of 6-23.
