
The Lady Marshals defeated Murray 49-43 in the 4th District Tournament semifinals on Monday and will advance to play in Wednesday’s championship game against Christian Fellowship and a chance to win their fourth consecutive title. Christian Fellowship beat Calloway County 66-60 on Tuesday to earn the program’s first-ever appearance in the championship. Both teams will advance to the First Region tournament next week at Murray State.
Trailing Murray 4-0 early, the Lady Marshals tied it up at 5-5 on a three-pointer by Madyson Morton. Morton scored again to give them their first lead but Murray finished out the first quarter with a 10-2 run to lead 15-9.
A three-pointer by Amelia Boone cut the Murray lead to one point at 15-14 and they would take a one point lead once again on a basket by Chevelle Henson. A 19-15 lead on a three-pointer by Laken Schroader was followed by an 8-0 run by the Lady Tigers to go up by four and they led 23-22 at halftime.
The Lady Marshals outscored Murray by six in the third quarter to lead 35-30, led by six points from Schroader. Chevelle Henson scored six of the Lady Marshals 14 fourth quarter points and they outscored Murray by one to earn the six point win.
Schroader and Henson each scored 15 points for the Lady Marshals. Alyssa Daughrity led Murray with 11.
