David Fredrick Hoffmeyer, age 91, of Benton, KY, died Friday, February 17, 2023, at his residence in Benton, KY.
Born September 3, 1931 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Fred Hoffmeyer and the late Grace Louise Call Hoffmeyer. He attended Three Crosses Church and was a retired principal at Lakeview Public School in St. Clair Shores, MI. He received Teacher of the Year Award at Detroit Public School. He was also a member of the Benton and Calvert City Country Clubs and of the Green’s Committees.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mattie June Hoffmeyer of Benton, KY; son, David Scott Hoffmeyer of Benton, KY; daughters, Marsha Kubilis husband Edmund of Benton, KY, Sandra Howery husband John of Columbia, KY, and Linda Lane of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Sandra Burton of Livonia, MI; grandchildren, Jayson Kubilis of Walnut Creek, CA, Amanda Murphy of Australia, Paul Meier wife Misty of Louisiana, Jennifer Borens of Waco, KY, Sara Baker of Columbia, KY, Evan Lane of Scottsdale, AZ, and Blake Lane of Dallas, TX; Great-grandchildren, Levi Murphy, Isla Murphy, Paul Michael Meier Jr., Hunter Meier, Aspen Borens, Aubrie Borens, Corban Borens, Addison Borens, Tanner Lewis, Tatum Lewis, and Lariat Baker and one great-great-grandchildren, Ryelynn Meier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rodney Hoffmeyer and granddaughter, Taylor Lane.
A funeral service for David will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Pastor Leah Howe and John Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Benton, KY.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the funeral home.
