
Bartie (Bart) E. McElrath, 81, lifelong resident of Paducah KY, passed away on February 17, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bart was born in Paducah KY on May 1, 1941, to Robert Henry (Pop) McElrath Jr. and Helen Willis McElrath. Bart worked hard his whole life starting with his first paper route, working at both the Andrus Gulf Station and the Randles Gulf Station, Modine Manufacturing Co., U-Haul Co., and Paschall Truck Lines. Bart served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After retiring, Bart enjoyed restoring and showing his red 1960 Chevrolet Impala with the Kustoms Car Club of Paducah.
Bart is survived by his daughter, Angela McElrath-(Chris) Prosser, sister Donna Crouch, brother Jon (Racy) McElrath, nieces Jonna McElrath, Gwen (Arlene) Ryan, nephews Jamon McElrath, Jamie Ryan, Charles Ryan III, great niece Amy Hawkins, great nephew Hunter (Courtney) Ryan, members and friends of the Kustoms Car Club of Paducah.
In addition to his parents Robert and Helen McElrath, Bart was preceded in death by his uncle Russell McElrath, cousin Russell McElrath Jr, niece Julianne Thurby and great nephew Charles Ryan IV.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration, Baptist Hospital, and Mercy Health Hospice for their excellent care of Bart during his illness. Special thanks to the Prayer Warriors in Kentucky and Tennessee who were praying on our behalf. We would also like to thank Peggy and the Staff at New Asia for their kindness both for his 81st birthday celebration and the steady supply of wonton soup which was all he would eat toward the end of his illness.
